RBL Cookstown Reserves 1
Saturday 30th September 2017
Ballymena League - Division 2
2:00pm ko @ Fairhill, Cookstown

Killymoon Rangers hosted local rivals Cookstown RBL Reserves at Fairhill Park on Saturday afternoon in their fifth league fixture of the year. The match was kindly sponsored by The Oldtown Inn Bar & Restaurant and saw Killymoon Rangers come out on top, making it four league wins in a row.
Rangers took the lead after just 30 seconds. The ball played back to Frizelle from the kick-off, who played a long ball over the top towards the front men. The ball ran through at pace towards the oncoming RBL goalkeeper Matthew Rainey, but Killymoon player Richard Donaghy got there just before him and a quick ricochet later the captain duly tapped in (1-0).
Dylan Coyle and Christopher McNicholl were giving the home team plenty of width, much like previous weeks, and despite success at beating the RBL fullback, they final ball often was cleared or fell fortunately for the defenders, taking it off the toes of front men Stuart Donaghy and Trevor Brownlee.
The first half ebbed and flowed in terms of possession, and there were opportunities for both sides with RBL players Gareth Ramsay and Jonny Taylor putting in strong performances for their side in their first half. Late in the first half, David Frizelle found himself in an attacking position down the right, after some great linkup play with Andrew Chesney and Declan Campbell. The midfielder fired a low hard shot across the face of goal, which Stuart Donaghy glanced towards goal, only to see his effort go over the bar.
Killymoon continued to press, and with half time fast approaching, the 'moon got their reward. A corner delivered by Stuart Donaghy was scrambled home by his strike partner Trevor Brownlee to give the home team a much deserved 2 nil lead at the break. (HT 2-0)
Early into the second half centre half Jamie O'Neill, who was carrying a small knock, was replaced by Eoin Coyle, both men have been through the wars in recent games. Defender William Frizelle, who was having a very solid performance at the back when RBL substitute Ray Greer found himself free at the Killymoon back post and was able to knock home a later consolation for his team (2-1).
A clean sheet yet again eludes Killymoon Rangers, who had ex-goalkeeper turned striker Warren Smith between the sticks. First choice keeper Kyle Dobson was celebrating the arrival of his newly born daughter. Congratulations to Kyle and Family, and well done to Warren who put in a great performance in goals.

The Man of the Match award against Cookstown RBL went to centre half William Frizelle, picked by the supporters on the day, presented by Killymoon assistant manager Andrew Graham, and kindly sponsored by the Monrush Social Society.
